Economic forecast
A collapse in the price of the shares of Astroc, a
construction company, which triggered falls in the
values of other construction companies, is a sign that
the boom in construction, especially housing, which has partly driven recent economic expansion, is
coming to an end. We forecast that domestic demand
growth will fall from 4.6% in 2006 to 3.4% in 2007
and 2% in 2008.
